Open Doors Brant event
September 2009
Two Roses B & B was very happy to participate in the Doors Open Brant event on
September 26, 2009 to help celebrate the rich history and cultural diversity of
St. George, Brantford, County of Brant, and Six Nations/New Credit. This year's
day-long celebration featured 16 sites rich in cultural treasures and
architectural legacies, some of which offered unique on-site programming.
José and René Gonzalez, provided visitors to Two Roses B&B with private group
tours so they could share in the beauty of their magnificent mansion, known
within the old community of St. George as “the Breaside” or “The Master House”.
Built in 1880, Two Roses B & B illustrates the workmanship of days gone by.
Restoring the property to its original state has been a work of love for José
and René, who have owned it since April of 2008.
To be ready for Doors Open Brant, José and René dedicated countless hours and
worked hard. They were both surprised and delighted by the enthusiasm and
number of visitors. In preparing for the event, they never anticipated how
successful and well-attended it would be. Two Roses B & B had 181 visitors and
all were given a tour of the house with a complete history. José and René
thoroughly enjoyed talking about their pride and joy with each and every person!
